Veteran actress, Sharmila Tagore was one of the leading actresses of the 80s. The actress made her Bollywood debut with the film, Kashmir Ki Kali (1964) and became a prominent name in the Hindi film industry. Sharmila got married to Indian cricketer, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi in 1969, and later, became a proud mother of three kids, Saif Ali Khan, Saba Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan.
Meanwhile, her son, Saif Ali Khan is also a talented actor who has proved his mettle in acting with films like Kal Ho Na Ho, Hum Tum, Omkara, Race, Cocktail and Vikram Vedha among others. On the personal front, he tied the knot with actress, Kareena Kapoor, and the couple is blessed with two kids, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan. Saif is not only a loving husband but also a hands-on daddy who never fails to fulfil his fatherly duties.

Recently, Sharmila Tagore appeared on the singing reality show, Indian Idol 13, and the show’s host, Aditya Narayan surprised her with an adorable video of her kids. The video consisted of some specially recorded messages by Saif Ali Khan, Soha Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor for the legendary actress. A snippet of the same was shared by Saba Ali Khan on her IG handle, wherein Sharmila looked happy as she went down the memory lane with some throwback pictures of her family. Along with the video, Saba wrote:
“Tribute to ma… from the family.”
In the video, we can see the doting son, Saif Ali Khan admiring his mother, Sharmila Tagore to the fullest as he hailed the yesteryear actress for being an inspiration to all working women. Saif also praised her for teaching him to respect working women and breaking stereotypes. Reflecting on the same, he said:
“Adaab amma. Today I wish to tell everyone what a big inspiration you are to all, especially to your children. You have completed 60 years in the film industry. Despite you working so much, we never felt your absence in our lives or at home. You always maintained a great work-life balance. You have always been an inspiration to us, and all the women out there, especially working women. You have always broken stereotypes.”
Saif Ali Khan also revealed that his mother, Sharmila Tagore was an exceptional artist, who continued to work in films even after embracing motherhood. Heaping praises on her, the actor shared that it has taught him to take care of his son, Taimur Ali Khan while his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan is busy shooting in London. Saif can be heard saying:
“You have continued to work in films even after having children; and gave the biggest hits of your career like Aradhan, Amar Prem, Chupke Chukpe, and so many more. You have taught us to respect working women. Tabhi toh mein aaj ghar par baith kar Taimur ka khyal rakh raha hoon aur Kareena London mein apni film shoot kar rahi hai.”

For the unversed, Sharmila Tagore is a doting grandmother of five grandchildren, Sara Ali Khan, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Taimur Ali Khan, Inaaya Naumi Kemmu and Jehangir Ali Khan.
